President and CEO
Hussein El-Masri is the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ALMAAS Food Safety Plus, a leading food safety consulting company operating out of Ontario, Canada with extensive operations in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Hussein has been in the food industry since 1972 and has a wealth of international experience in hospitality, food processing, food service operations and food safety management systems. He is a certified national food safety trainer and registered proctor licensed to facilitate both online and in-class, TrainCan, Inc.’s food safety courses: ADVANCED.fst® and BASICS.fst®. Hussein is a trusted professional that has provided expert consultation services to owners, board members and senior management of food service and food processing companies in North America and MENA.
Prior to running his consulting and training business, Mr. El-Masri was the Vice-President of Operations of Victory’s Kitchen Ltd, an internationally recognized private label food manufacturer in Toronto, Ontario. He worked as Director of Catering Operations, Safat Catering Services Co. and Director of Food & Beverage Royal Suites, Bayan Palace, in Kuwait. Mr. El-Masri’s experience also includes: a General Manager Position with leading international British hospitality and catering company Taylorplan Overseas Ltd in Kuwait; District Manager of Hospital Catering Services at Poon Group of Companies in Kuwait; and Catering Manager at Oman Catering Company (A.A) Sultanate of Oman.
Hussein holds a diploma in Business Management from Jersey, England and a diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Toronto, Canada. He had previously earned professional credentials in the food industry by completing the following courses offered by the HotelConsult Institut Hôtelier César Ritz in Switzerland: Menu Analysis and Planning; Food and Beverage Marketing and Merchandising; and Creative Food and Beverage Control. To further develop his in-depth knowledge of food safety management, regulations and legislation he went on to successfully complete five intensive courses in HACCP at The Guelph Food Technology Centre (GFTC) in Guelph, Ontario. His H.R management training includes courses in: strategy development, hiring, retention, supervisory skills, effective training, motivation and conflict resolution.
Consultant & Trainer - Food Safety and Quality Systems
Paula graduated with a Master degree in Food Science from the University of INAPG France and a Diploma in Food Technology Engineering from the Lebanese Faculty of Agronomy. She is a Certified Food Safety Trainer of ADVANCED.fst and BASICS.fst Food Safety Training Programs by TrainCan Inc, Canada.
She is a Quality and Food Safety consultant with an intensive experience in Systems design and implementation. Paula has provided services for various food processing industries and food services in terms of ISO22000 and HACCP food safety systems, in addition to ISO 9001 management systems throughout Lebanon under USAID funded projects and upon private companies’ requests.
Her core competencies additionally comprise capacity building of personnel operating in the food sector. Paula made valuable information available to the labor level as well as the management level by designing Arabic training materials. She has delivered trainings in the areas of Food Safety Management Systems: Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, and ISO22000:2005; Quality Management Systems: ISO 9001:2008; Food processing techniques; and Quality control.
In addition to the above, Ms Paula has successfully planned, managed and coordinated several international projects in the area of food safety and agriculture development within Lebanon, and the MENA region. She was mainly involved in proposal writing, planning and budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, and coordinating between different parties of the project.
